The Veterinary Wellness Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in advancing this mission by ensuring accessible, high-quality preventative and surgical veterinary services that keep pets healthy, reduce overpopulation, and support responsible pet ownership. Why This Role Matters Our Wellness Clinics provide essential services including: Vaccinations Wellness appointments Heartworm testing FIV/FeLV testing Public spay/neuter services By leading our veterinary and customer service teams, you will ensure every client and patient receives exceptional medical care delivered with professionalism, empathy, and respect. If based in Pueblo, you will also oversee surgical operations at our Pueblo Wellness Clinic. What You'll Do Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team Supervise Wellness veterinary staff and Customer Service Representatives Provide coaching, feedback, and ongoing professional development Ensure strong daily workflow and appropriate staffing levels Facilitate team meetings and promote open communication Support new hires, relief veterinarians, volunteers, interns, and externs Ensure Medical & Surgical Excellence Partner with Staff Veterinarians and the Veterinary Wellness Manager to uphold treatment, surgery, vaccine, and medical protocols Maintain accurate and timely medical/surgical records Assist with treatments, medication orders, and euthanasia when required Oversee surgical workflow (Pueblo location) Assist with drug inventory and controlled substance management Deliver Exceptional Client Service Represent the Wellness Clinics with professionalism and courtesy Triage medical questions and provide sound veterinary guidance Oversee surgery drop-offs/pick-ups and wellness scheduling Manage financial transactions and daily cash closeout Support the medical return-to-owner program, including payment plans through Varidi Address and de-escalate customer service concerns Support Operations & Safety Maintain a regular presence on the clinic floor Anticipate workflow challenges and implement solutions Ensure hospital cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and OSHA compliance Monitor overtime trends and staffing adjustments Promote and model safe work practices at all times Strengthen Community Impact Collaborate with our Philanthropy team by sharing stories and photos that highlight life-saving work Help the community understand the importance of accessible veterinary care Work cooperatively with volunteers, recognizing the critical role they play in our success What We're Looking For Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary clinic or shelter setting Prior animal handling experience required Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred Veterinary Assistant Certificate or equivalent veterinary technician education preferred Strong medical knowledge and ability to triage inquiries Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and lead in a high-paced environment Commitment to HSPPR's mission and values Physical & Schedule Requirements Ability to lift 25-40+ pounds Comfort working around animals, allergens, cleaning agents, and surgical equipment Ability to stand for extended periods Schedule may include weekends and holidays Join a Mission That Matters This is more than a supervisory role - it's an opportunity to lead compassionate veterinary services that directly impact pets and the people who love them.
