Full-Time (Includes Evenings & Weekends) Job Summary Epic Specialty & Emergency Pet Care is seeking an experienced Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital Supervisor who is both a strong clinical technician and an effective team leader. This role oversees hospital operations while also functioning at a Level 2 veterinary technician capacity , providing advanced nursing care for emergency and specialty patients. The Supervisor actively works on the floor, supports multiple departments, and ensures the highest standards of patient care, compliance, and team performance. Key Responsibilities Hospital Oversight Supervise daily operations across emergency and specialty departments to ensure efficient workflow, medical quality, and patient safety. Team Leadership Support and coordinate veterinarians, technicians, and support staff while modeling advanced technical skills and professional standards. Assist with coaching, training, and development of technical staff. Advanced Patient Care (Level 2 Technician Duties) Actively participate in the treatment of emergency and specialty patients, including: Advanced patient monitoring (TPR, blood pressure, ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography) Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, blood sampling, and arterial sampling Advanced anesthesia monitoring and recovery Operation of infusion pumps and CRIs Administration of injectable, oral, and IV medications Placement and management of urinary catheters, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes Advanced wound care and bandaging Fluid therapy calculation and management Oxygen therapy and ventilator support (if applicable) CPR and emergency stabilization procedures Diagnostic assistance (radiographs, ultrasound support, lab equipment operation) Controlled Substances Management Oversee handling, documentation, and compliance with federal and state regulations regarding controlled substances. Scheduling & Staffing Assist in scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage across emergency and specialty services, particularly for evenings and weekends. Quality Assurance & Protocols Maintain and enforce hospital protocols, nursing standards, and best practices in emergency and specialty medicine. Client Communication Support client education and communication regarding diagnostics, treatments, and hospitalization care. Inventory & Equipment Oversight Monitor and order inventory, ensure proper use of medical equipment, and coordinate maintenance of anesthesia, monitoring, and diagnostic equipment. Qualifications Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred Minimum of 3 years of experience in an emergency and/or specialty veterinary hospital setting Demonstrated ability to function at a Level 2 technician skill level (advanced nursing and critical patient care) Prior leadership or supervisory experience required Strong knowledge of anesthesia, emergency procedures, and specialty patient care Thorough understanding of controlled substance handling and regulatory compliance Ability to multitask and lead in a fast-paced, high-acuity medical environment Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
