Assistant Optical Manager

Assistant Optical Manager Grand Traverse Ophthalmology Clinic • Traverse City / Petoskey, MI • Full-time We're a busy, physician-led ophthalmology practice with locations in Traverse City and Petoskey, and we're looking for a sharp, experienced optician ready to step into a leadership role. What you'll do Dispense eyewear and contact lenses for adult and pediatric patients Guide patients through frame and lens selection with a consultative approach Perform precision measurements, verify lab orders, and fit and adjust frames Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot visual outcome concerns for patients whose glasses or contact lenses are not performing as expected Support the Optical Manager with staff training, scheduling, and day-to-day operations Serve as the department lead in the Optical Manager's absence Travel between our Traverse City and Petoskey locations as needed (mileage reimbursed) What we're looking for 3-5 years of experience in an optical management or lead role, preferably in an ophthalmology or medical setting Proven dispensing optician experience required ABO certification required Strong communicator who can translate technical information clearly for patients of all ages Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a busy environment Reliable transportation for travel between clinic locations (mileage reimbursed) Location Candidates based in either the Traverse City or Petoskey area are encouraged to apply. The role will be primarily based in Traverse City initially, transitioning to approximately equal time between both locations.
