This position serves as a critical liaison between pet owners, referring veterinarians, and our specialty services, helping ensure a seamless experience for patients requiring advanced veterinary care. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinary professional who enjoys client communication, case coordination, and being a trusted resource for both pet owners and veterinary colleagues. Position Overview The Specialty Coordinator is responsible for managing specialty service inquiries, coordinating appointments and referrals, communicating with referring veterinary hospitals, and helping clients navigate the specialty care process. The successful candidate will possess strong medical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications Preferred:
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) Will also consider: Highly experienced veterinary professional with extensive emergency and specialty medicine knowledge Candidates must be able to: Confidently discuss specialty and emergency medicine services with clients and referring veterinary teams Triage and route medical inquiries appropriately Coordinate specialty appointments and referrals Communicate professionally with veterinarians, veterinary staff, and clients Maintain exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Work independently while collaborating effectively with clinical teams What You'll Do Serve as the primary point of contact for specialty service inquiries Coordinate patient referrals and specialty consultations Assist clients in understanding specialty services and appointment processes Communicate with referring veterinarians regarding case information and scheduling Support specialty clinicians and hospital operations through effective case coordination Maintain accurate documentation and records within the hospital information system Schedule & Work Environment Full-time position Initial onboarding and training will be conducted on-site at our Syracuse-area hospital Partial remote work may be available following successful completion of onboarding and demonstrated competency in the role Compensation & Benefits Starting pay: $25.00/hour and up for Licensed Veterinary Technicians , based on experience Competitive benefits package Continuing education opportunities Employee pet benefits Opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of specialists and emergency professionals About VMC VMC is Central New York's premier 24/7 emergency and specialty veterinary hospital.
