Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Health Information Management Specialist/Release of Information (ROI) Associate to join our healthcare operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing medical record requests accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies. The ideal candidate will have experience working with medical records, strong communication skills, and a commitment to protecting patient privacy while delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities Process all Release of Information (ROI) requests in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner. Safeguard patient confidentiality by ensuring medical records are released only to authorized individuals. Review requests and authorizations for completeness and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Respond to patient, provider, and third-party inquiries professionally and courteously. Manage incoming phone calls, faxes, queues, and documentation related to medical records requests. Utilize scanning, faxing, copying, and electronic medical record systems to fulfill requests. Maintain accurate documentation of all requests and releases. Meet established productivity, quality, and utilization standards. Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently when needed. Support a positive patient and customer experience through exceptional service and communication. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently or within a team environment. Ability to operate standard office equipment, including fax machines, copiers, and scanners. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical records department, healthcare setting, or similar environment. Previous experience processing Release of Information (ROI) requests. Familiarity with medical records management and healthcare privacy regulations. Experience in a patient-facing or customer service-focused role. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
