Job Description
We are looking for a Medical Records Clerk to support medical documentation and records operations for an orthopedic practice. This contract position is fully onsite and focuses on keeping patient information organized, accurate, and accessible while supporting daily administrative workflows. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling electronic records, managing incoming documentation, and responding to patient-related requests with efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate physician appointment schedule documentation and update related records with accuracy and timeliness.
- Route incoming faxes to the appropriate folders or staff members and maintain organized electronic document queues.
- Scan, index, and electronically file patient records and other medical documents in accordance with office procedures.
- Prepare, complete, and track disability paperwork while maintaining accurate processing records.
- Answer patient questions related to medical records and disability form status in a helpful and service-oriented manner.
- Collect applicable payments associated with disability form processing and document transactions correctly.
- Use electronic medical record systems and scanning tools to create batches, upload documents, and maintain complete digital files.
- Support day-to-day medical records operations by organizing charts, managing document workflows, and ensuring compliance with established turnaround expectations.
- 2+ years of experience working with medical records in a healthcare or clinical setting.
- Hands-on experience with electronic medical record systems such as Allscripts, Cerner, NextGen, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of patient medical records management, document handling, and electronic filing practices.
- Ability to scan, index, and maintain high-volume records with strong attention to detail.
- Experience communicating with patients regarding documentation needs, status updates, or related questions.
- Comfortable handling administrative tasks that require accuracy, confidentiality, and consistent follow-through.
- Ability to work onsite in Newark, Delaware and manage responsibilities in a fast-paced medical office environment.
