We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Records Specialist to support our attorneys by efficiently handling medical documentation critical to case success.
Position Summary:
The Medical Records Specialist will be responsible for requesting, tracking, receiving, and saving medical records and bills. This role is essential in ensuring that attorneys and legal staff have timely access to accurate and complete medical documentation for litigation and case management. Key Responsibilities Ensuring accuracy and completeness of all medical documentation, including verifying patient information, dates of service, and treatment details. Following up persistently with medical providers, records custodians, and third-party vendors to obtain outstanding records and billing statements. Maintaining detailed and organized records within the firm's case management system, including tracking requests, receipts, and deficiencies. Communicating professionally with medical offices, clients, attorneys, and staff regarding record status and urgent case needs. Identifying missing, inconsistent, or critical medical information and escalating issues to attorneys or case managers as appropriate. Ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards when handling sensitive medical information. Managing multiple requests and deadlines efficiently while prioritizing urgent litigation matters. Collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, and intake staff to support case development and trial preparation. Maintaining professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and follow-up abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems. Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
