Position Summary:
Responsible for management of medical record access, retrieval, release to outside payers, content, and maintenance in a multi-site system. Ensures compliance with regulatory and confidentiality requirements. Trains and consults in all matters related to medical records.
Education Requirements:
Associate degree or equivalent in medical record or office management or related subject. Knowledge of Medical Terminology and confidentiality as it relates to medical records and HIPAA.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum one to two years' experience working with medical records. Knowledge of provider office operations and workflows. Knowledge of medical record management (preferably EHRs). Excellent verbal, telephone and written communication skills with people having various communication skills and styles. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Excellent filing, Word, and data entry skills. Ability to prioritize and organize work. Ability to work as a team member and independently.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Access to Medical Records Ø Receives requests for PHI from payors and releases information via a HIPAA compliant manner. Ø Coordinates and responds to all requests for contents of record in compliance with current NY state and federal laws, guidelines, and regulations. 2. Contents of Medical Records Ø Ensures uniformity of record contents before releasing. Ø Accesses and secures medical record ROI requests from various IT current and legacy EMR sources 3. Maintenance of Medical Records Ø Ensures safe and confidential maintenance and access of records. 4. Quality Management Ø Compiles, enters, and ensures validity and accuracy of record data requests for other agencies. Ø Provides data as needed for Quality Improvement initiatives. Ø Participates with the management team for projects involving certification, accreditation, and confidentiality. •Please be aware for the safety and security of our colleagues and patients all new employees are required to undergo and pass all applicable state and federally mandated pre-employment screening requirements including: Pay range: $17.85-$23.33 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
