The Brody Law Group, a well established NYC defense firm has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Records Clinical Specialist. With offices in New York City and Huntington on Long Island, the Medical Records team has the ability to have an immediate significant impact on the firm, the team, and their clients. The attorneys are highly skilled litigators who offer expertise and counseling in the areas of sophisticated construction and labor law litigation, general liability, insurance coverage, products liability and appellate practice. About the Role We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Clinical Specialist with a nursing or clinical background to support our legal team. This role bridges healthcare knowledge and legal operations, ensuring medical records are accurately obtained, reviewed, summarized, and maintained to support case strategy and compliance. This position is ideal for someone who understands medical terminology, documentation standards, and patient care workflows—and can apply that expertise in a fast-paced legal environment. Key Responsibilities Request, track, and manage medical records from hospitals, providers, and healthcare facilities Review records for completeness, accuracy, and relevance to legal cases Organize, index, and maintain medical records in digital and physical systems Create concise medical chronologies and summaries for attorneys Identify missing documentation and follow up with providers Understand and interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, procedures, and treatments Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations Assist attorneys with case preparation related to medical issues Communicate professionally with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and clients Support trial preparation by organizing exhibits and medical documentation
Qualifications Required:
Nursing background (RN, LPN, LVN, or clinical healthcare experience) Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and documentation Exceptional organizational and attention-to-detail skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
Preferred:
Experience in a law firm, insurance defense, or personal injury environment Familiarity with HIPAA regulations Experience summarizing or abstracting medical records Knowledge of legal case management systems Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines Clear written and verbal communication Professional, calm demeanor High degree of accuracy Comfortable working independently Why This Role Matters Your clinical insight will directly impact case outcomes by ensuring attorneys have clear, accurate, and well-organized medical documentation to support their strategy.
