Job Description

Position Summary At MedReview, our mission is to bring accuracy, accountability and clinical excellence to healthcare. As such, we are a leading authority in payment integrity solutions including DRG Validation, Cost Outlier and Readmission reviews. Under the direction of the Document Management leaders, the Medical Records Specialist is responsible for processing all medical records received in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy, and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. This is an on-site position based in New York City, with working hours 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Candidate must understand, be willing and able to assume roles and responsibilities other than these to meet the needs of the department and NYCHSRO/MedReview in general. To ensure accurate and timely data entry of incoming records and appeals To review correspondence received and identify the type of document being submitted for action To acknowledge correspondence for Document Management processing To Identify late appeal request, and notify to Operations Unit Manager for claims disposition To demonstrate knowledge of filing and retrieving hard copy and electronic documents (letters, worksheets, charts, etc.) To contact Operation Unit Manager for further medical records processing To assist reviewer in locating unidentified documents To raise inquiries or issues through the Halo platform Follow updated policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Ability to process all medical records, in a timely and efficient manner and ensuring accuracy Candidates will be motivated, organized, detail oriented, responsible, and reliable, have the ability to multi-task and be able to work independently. Candidates will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills Candidates will be able to access multiple system platforms Candidates will have the ability to understand and become knowledgeable of policies & procedures, HIPAA regulations and to complete work in compliance with these and other standards. Ability to read and comprehend simple, healthcare terminology. For example, DRG, Cost Outlier, Readmission is preferred Data-entry experience with excellent typing skills required. Candidates will have the ability to learn new processes in a fast-paced environment. Experience with previous release of information, medical records, or other related experience in a healthcare environment is preferred. Candidates will have effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in English (verbally and in writing).
