Week Facility Overview:
Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital serving southern Gila County and surrounding rural communities. The facility provides a wide range of services including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient services, diagnostic imaging, surgical services, and specialty care.
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Interim Health Information Management (HIM) Director to lead and manage HIM operations in a rural hospital setting. This role requires a hands-on leader who can ensure regulatory compliance, maintain data integrity, and oversee medical records and coding processes while supporting a small team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage day-to-day HIM department operations Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.) Oversee medical records management, chart completion, and release of information (ROI) Supervise coding processes and ensure accuracy in ICD-10, CPT, and DRG assignments Maintain data integrity and ensure accurate clinical documentation Monitor and improve documentation and coding quality standards Manage HIM staff including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and IT teams to optimize workflows Ensure proper use and maintenance of EMR systems (Meditech preferred) Develop and implement HIM policies and procedures Support audits, compliance reviews, and accreditation processes Provide reports and analytics related to HIM operations

Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of HIM experience Prior leadership/management experience in HIM Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance, and coding standards Experience working in hospital settings (Critical Access Hospital preferred) Proficiency with EMR systems (Meditech preferred) Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a rural healthcare environment Certifications (Preferred/Required): RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent HIM certification preferred
Additional Requirements & Terms:
Flu vaccination is mandatory (No exceptions) Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility Maximum 3 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the assignment

Hourly Rate:
$84/hr
Weekly Gross:
$3,360 (based on 40 hours)
