Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Collections Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing outstanding medical accounts, ensuring timely collection of payments, and maintaining accurate medical records. Your expertise will help improve revenue cycle processes while providing excellent service to patients and healthcare providers. This position offers an engaging environment where your skills in medical coding, billing, and collections will directly contribute to the efficiency and success of our healthcare operations. Responsibilities Contact patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to follow up on unpaid or overdue medical bills Review and analyze medical accounts using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to verify billing accuracy Apply appropriate coding such as DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 to ensure correct billing and reimbursement Resolve discrepancies related to medical records, billing errors, or insurance denials through effective communication and documentation Maintain detailed records of collection activities, payment histories, and correspondence in compliance with healthcare regulations Collaborate with medical office staff to update patient information and ensure accurate medical terminology usage Stay informed about changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations affecting collections Skills Strong knowledge of medical coding including
