Supervisor PB Coding 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for supervising daily professional billing coding operations to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Provides oversight of staff performance, workflow management, and quality assurance. Develops staff through training, mentoring, and performance evaluation. Collaborates with providers, revenue cycle leadership, and compliance teams to optimize coding practices and ensure regulatory adherence.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties: Supervises professional coding staff, assigning workloads and monitoring productivity and accuracy. Conducts performance evaluations, provides feedback, and develops training plans. Oversees resolution of escalated coding and documentation issues. Ensures compliance with federal, state, payer, and organizational coding regulations. Monitors key performance indicators for coding operations and prepares reports for leadership. Coordinates with providers to improve documentation practices and support accurate coding. Participates in departmental budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation. Supports audits, compliance reviews, and quality improvement initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirement: High school diploma or equivalent 0-4 years of related/progressive experience Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P) or equivalent required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers. Occasionally requires travel to and from off-site locations The noise level in this position is usually low
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequently required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer or while presenting to individuals or groups. Frequently required to move about throughout the Medical Center or while rounding. Constantly required to communicate with people electronically, telephonically and in-person requiring talking and hearing. Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone. Constantly required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
