Job Category Management Shift DAYS Hours Monday - Friday, hybrid schedule Schedule Full-Time Req # 26876-21541 Connect With a Recruiter Summary Job summary: Under the direction of the HIM Department Director, the Coding Supervisor provides leadership and day-to-day oversight of facility coding operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant coding and billing. Strong knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS and coding clinic guidelines is required. This role supervises coding staff, supports productivity and quality initiatives, ensures adherence to regulatory, payer requirements and internal policies, and partners with clinical documentation improvement, revenue cycle, and physician groups to optimize revenue and data quality.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of inpatient or outpatient hospital coding experience, prior supervisory experience preferred
Certification:
Active AHIMA or AAPC credential required (CCS, RHIA, RHIT or equivalent)
Education:
Associate or bachelor's degree in health information management or related field. Experience considered as alternative.
Special Skills:
Advanced understanding of coding guidelines, federal regulations and hospital billing processes
Other:
Oracle Cerner and/or 3M encoder knowledge preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and aptitude for learning. Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and manage hybrid team.
