DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrates competency and meet or exceed quality and productivity standards in HIM electronic health record procedures. 2. Process Electronic Health Record (EHR) functions including document management preparation and scanning, document importing, indexing, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), bookmarking, and electronic faxing, conduct EHR document management quality assurance audits and resolution. 3. Retrieves records from nursing units and process per protocol. Sort, stamp, and distribute incoming mail. Process and stamping outgoing mail. 4. Operates office equipment, including electronic faxing, copier, scanner, computer terminals, and printers. 5. Operates all health data software currently used in our electronic record process, record retrieval and record tracking. 6. Assist with HIM Customer Service telephone calls, copy services, patient walk-ins, and patient portal access, completes written requests for information as per procedure. 7. Prepare electronic documents for audits or record release by printing, emailing, or copying to a CD. Collect, process, track, distribute, and fax Protected Health Information (PHI). 8. Participate in medical record purging processes. 9. Able to maintain an electronic medical record system and ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies that provide governance and guidance on handling medical records in an appropriate manner. 10. Complete productivity and goal sheets as directed. Performs other duties as assigned by HIM Manager. 11. Performs others duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required. 2. Currently enrolled in or completed HIT program. 3. Up to (1) one-year HIT experience preferred. 4. Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel), PC literacy. Data Entry 10 key by touch and typing speed 35 wpm required. 5. Bilingual English / Spanish required. 6. Medical terminology preferred. 7. Ability to utilize Health Data software with above average computer skills with knowledge of data entry.
