The Opportunity:
Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a part-time Medical Records Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support the organization by maintaining accurate patient records, processing medical record requests, scanning and organizing documentation, and ensuring patient information is handled with accuracy and confidentiality. This position plays an important role in supporting high-quality, patient-centered care by ensuring providers and care teams have access to complete and accurate medical information.
Key Responsibilities:
Process internal and external medical record requests while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Prepare, scan, upload, and organize patient documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Verify patient information and ensure records are accurate, complete, and properly maintained. Retrieve, track, and prepare medical records for patient care, audits, and reviews. Identify and resolve missing, incomplete, or misfiled documentation. Respond to phone calls and assist patients, staff, and external requestors as needed. Support daily department operations, including mail processing, record maintenance, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher preferred. Minimum of one year of medical records, health information, or healthcare administrative experience preferred. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems preferred. Knowledge of medical records processes, scanning, documentation management, and release of information preferred. Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality requirements. Strong computer skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare teams. Join Our Team! Pay:
$18.00 - $20.50 per hour
