Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health Information Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will manage and maintain accurate health records, ensure compliance with healthcare privacy regulations, and support clinical documentation processes. Your expertise will help facilitate seamless access to patient information, enhance data integrity, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care through meticulous records management and health information systems. Duties Organize, review, and update medical records ensuring completeness and accuracy in accordance with health information management standards Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platforms to input, retrieve, and manage patient data efficiently Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy protection laws and clinical confidentiality policies during all record handling activities Apply medical coding principles accurately for billing, reimbursement, and data analysis purposes Support revenue cycle management by verifying insurance information, processing claims, and following up on billing discrepancies Maintain strict adherence to health information regulatory compliance policies and healthcare privacy regulations Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation of medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatment plans Assist in audits and quality assurance reviews related to medical records and health information management processes Experience Proven experience working in a medical office or healthcare environment with familiarity in medical records management Strong knowledge of health regulation policies, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting tasks Experience with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms is highly desirable Sound understanding of medical terminology and clinical confidentiality policies Prior involvement in health information regulatory compliance activities or audits preferred Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with patients, providers, and insurance representatives Join us as a Health Information Technician to play a crucial role in safeguarding patient data while supporting the delivery of exceptional healthcare services.
