Medical Records Technician - SCI Fayette La Belle, PA 06 Jul 2026 22719456 Summary La Belle, PA In-Person $46827.00 - $70592.00 per Year 0 Years Experience Post-secondary academic degree, Associate degree No Commission 37.50 hours per week / Day Shift / Full-Time Description Become a Medical Records Technician with the Department of Corrections (DOC) and take an active role in managing the essential records that guide inmate medical care at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on managing and maintaining medical records that support offender health care at SCI Fayette. It plays an important part in ensuring that records are complete, accurate, and meet required standards. As a Medical Records Technician, you will perform the following duties:
Record Management:
Organize and maintain integrated health records for incarcerated individuals
Coding Accuracy:
Code diseases, procedures, therapies, and treatments according to established standards
File Control:
File and issue medical records while following confidentiality rules and legal requirements
Quality Review:
Review medical records for completeness and report patterns of incomplete documentation
Report Preparation:
Prepare statistical reports and records for management review

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,827.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
You must be in possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
Post Employment Requirement:
