Health Information Technician Job Specifications:
  • Accurately prepare and handle information from internal and external sources in several media forms: printing, scanning, copying, faxing, sorting, collating, uploading, and filing. Assign the document name and route to the correct medical staff member and location in the medical record.
  • Release of records: Document the receipt and completion of all requests for information compliant with HIPAA guidelines. Verify telephone, verbal, and written requests for information from health care providers, authorized third parties, patients, or their authorized representatives.
Record Retention:
Accurately identify and administer the record retention schedule. Assist with the tasks to store, retain, and purge patient records.
Reception Job Specifications:
  • Answer telephone
  • Occasional appointment scheduling
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out as necessary
  • Collect account balances and co-pays
  • Computer update of patient registrations and insurance information
  • Self-management, accuracy, and organizational skills are required to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
