Job Description

THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.
The ROI Technician is responsible for processing all legal record requests for medical, billing and radiology films in accordance with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA guidelines. Re ceive, review, and process record requests to i nclude filling out affidavits, deposition questions as well as notarizing. Verify authorization forms for completeness and compliance with HIPAA and state regulations. Log, track, and document all ROI activities in tracking systems. Communicate with requestors regarding incomplete authorizations, fees, or clarification needs. Calculate and collect applicable fees in accordance with regulatory guidelines. This role ensures the accurate, timely, and secure release of protected health information (PHI) while maintaining patient confidentiality and organizational compliance standards.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1 year of experience in medical records. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations and medical record confidentiality standards. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume requests. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, scanning systems, document management systems). Knowledge of insurance and EOB'S. Experience handling legal subpoenas, court orders.
