Job Description

Job Summary The Medical Receptionist (Itinerant) is the first point of contact for patients and provides front-desk and administrative support for the village clinic. This role is responsible for patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and coordinating patient travel while maintaining strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Responsibilities Register patients, verify insurance, and enter data into the EHR Schedule appointments and manage check-in/check-out Collect and verify Medicaid, HPE, and sliding fee applications Answer and route phone calls; assist patient inquiries Coordinate Medicaid travel and prepare required documentation Scan, fax, file, and manage clinic documents Maintain reception and waiting areas Assist with patient surveys and customer comments Order office supplies and maintain clinic files Coordinate scheduling and outreach with BBAHC departments Train staff on registration procedures as needed Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Prior office or medical office experience preferred Basic computer and EHR skills; ability to type 40 wpm Proficient with multi-line phones and office equipment Strong customer service and communication skills Organized, dependable, and able to multitask Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain) Willingness to travel for training/workshop
