Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team on a weekend-only schedule. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent patient service abilities, and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. This role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and exceptional patient interactions. The successful applicant will demonstrate attention to detail, confidentiality, and a proactive approach to supporting clinical staff and patients alike. Duties Greet patients warmly and manage check-in/check-out procedures with professionalism and efficiency. Schedule appointments using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring optimal clinic flow. Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy and confidentiality. Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and care plan documentation. Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies on clinical confidentiality. Assist with phone communication, providing clear information to patients regarding appointments, insurance, or medical questions. Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently using Microsoft Office tools. Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate patient intake processes and ensure smooth front desk operations during weekend shifts. Qualifications Prior experience working as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare administrative support role within a clinical setting. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with health information management is essential. Knowledge of medical billing procedures, medical coding (ICD-9/10, CPT), and health insurance processes including Medicare. Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office applications and data entry accuracy. Excellent customer service skills combined with phone etiquette and professional communication abilities. Ability to review medical records thoroughly while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Bilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with health insurance terminology and documentation review is advantageous.
