In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding patient diagnoses and procedures, processing medical billing, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Your expertise in medical terminology and coding systems will be essential in maintaining accurate medical records and facilitating efficient billing processes. Responsibilities Review patient charts and documents to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures using
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, and DRG systems. Process medical billing claims to insurance companies and patients, ensuring timely submission and follow-up on outstanding claims. Manage medical collections by communicating with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements. Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to maintain accurate patient information and documentation. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding requirements. Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and compliance standards to ensure adherence to industry guidelines. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing and coding, with a strong understanding of ICD coding, CPT coding, DRG, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems is highly desirable. Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills for interacting with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance representatives.
