In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a friendly atmosphere from the moment they walk into the clinic Schedule and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying insurance information and updating medical records Handle phone inquiries with excellent phone etiquette, providing accurate information about services, appointments, and billing procedures Collect payments, process medical billing, and perform medical collection activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring all patient records are complete and up-to-date in EHR systems like Athenahealth or Meditech Maintain organized filing of medical records, insurance documents, and other administrative files while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), ICD coding, and Medicare documentation review to support billing accuracy Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and scheduling follow-up appointments as needed Utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation, correspondence, and reporting purposes Skills Proven experience in a dental or medical office setting with strong clerical skills Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person Strong understanding of health insurance procedures, including health information management and medical billing practices Proficiency in medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and Medicare requirements for accurate documentation review Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with typing skills including 10-key typing for data entry accuracy Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies to ensure compliance with HIPAA standards Experience with dental clinic operations or healthcare office management is preferred Join us as a Dental Receptionist where your proactive approach and dedication will help create a seamless experience for our patients while supporting our team's success!
