Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires strong familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and excellent communication skills to support smooth clinic operations and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. $300 bonus after 90 days and potential raise at 6 month review. Duties Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring a positive first impression. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including appointment scheduling using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures accurately. Collect co-pays and outstanding balances through medical collections processes. Maintain and update patient records within EMR/EHR systems such as AthenaHealth, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; assist patients with inquiries and appointment rescheduling. Manage filing of medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding health information management. Support clinic operations by performing clerical tasks such as data entry (10 key typing), document scanning. Coordinate with healthcare providers regarding patient intake, medical scheduling, and follow-up appointments. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient needs promptly and professionally. Experience Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is required Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth, is highly desirable. Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare/Medicaid documentation is advantageous. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) are required. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and professional phone etiquette are necessary for success in this role.
