Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk professional to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a busy healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical office procedures. This role involves managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, handling medical records, and supporting clinical staff to ensure smooth operational flow. The Medical Front Desk plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient service while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing professional and courteous front-line customer service. Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Verify patient insurance information and assist with health insurance inquiries, including Medicare and Medicaid processing. Collect and process payments related to medical collections, billing, and copayments accurately. Manage patient records by updating electronic health records (EHR) systems and ensuring proper documentation review. Answer phone calls promptly, utilizing proper phone etiquette to address inquiries and direct calls appropriately. Maintain clinic flow by coordinating patient check-ins, check-outs, and follow-up appointments. Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and documentation review. Uphold strict confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive medical information. Assist with clerical duties including typing, filing, 10-key typing, and managing medical records efficiently. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for report generation and communication purposes. Requirements Proven experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with front desk responsibilities. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is essential. Familiarity with medical billing processes, insurance verification, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and Medicare procedures. Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinic environment while maintaining attention to detail. Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Experience with medical terminology, health information management, and office management practices is preferred. Proficiency in computer skills including typing (10-key), filing systems, and Microsoft Office Suite is required. Prior clinic or dental clinic experience will be considered an asset for this role.
