Job Description
Core Responsibilities Patient Intake & Flow:
Greet patients upon arrival, manage the check-in and check-out processes, and ensure they are guided to the appropriate waiting areas.Scheduling:
Coordinate and manage provider calendars by scheduling, confirming, and rescheduling appointments, including follow-up visits and procedures.Information Management:
Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.Financial Tasks:
Verify insurance eligibility, obtain necessary authorizations, and collect co-payments or outstanding balances at the time of service.Communication:
Answer high volumes of phone calls, triage patient concerns, and direct inquiries to the appropriate clinical staff.Office Maintenance:
Keep the reception and waiting areas clean and organized, and monitor inventory for office and basic medical supplies.Key Skills & Qualifications Education:
A High School Diploma or GED.Technical Proficiency:
Experience with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.Medical Knowledge:
Basic fluency in medical terminology and a solid understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional customer service, empathy for stressed or ill patients, and the ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.Administrative Ability:
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a typing speed often required at 35-45 words per minute. Preferred Qualification Prior experience (1-3 years) in a medical office or healthcare setting. Starting pay commensurate with experience. Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or in medical reception.Pay:
