Dental Receptionist

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent patient service abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of dental office operations. This role is vital in ensuring smooth front desk functions, efficient appointment scheduling, and accurate management of patient records. The Dental Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and facilitate patient intake processes with professionalism and courtesy. Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal daily workflow. Verify insurance benefits and perform insurance claims processing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement. Manage medical and dental records with meticulous attention to detail, including documentation review and proper filing within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech. Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to address patient inquiries, appointment changes, and general information requests. Assist in billing procedures by performing medical collection activities, insurance verification, and coding tasks including

CPT, ICD-9/10

codes related to dental procedures. Maintain a clean and organized front desk area while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and health information management standards. Support clinic operations through clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, typing (including 10-key), and managing office supplies to ensure an efficient work environment. Qualifications Prior experience working in a dental office or healthcare setting with a strong understanding of dental terminology and clinic procedures. Proficiency in dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or Meditech is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD), insurance verification processes, and Medicare guidelines. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation review and administrative support tasks. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Exceptional customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette to foster positive patient interactions. Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Clinic experience combined with medical administrative support knowledge is highly valued for this role.
