At Julia Barriga MD PA, the front desk is part of patient care. A promptly answered call can help a sick child receive timely care. Accurate scheduling and insurance information can prevent avoidable delays. A warm interaction can help a concerned parent understand what happens next. We are seeking a full-time Bilingual Pediatric Medical Receptionist who communicates professionally in English and Spanish, enjoys helping children and families, and can keep calls, scheduling, insurance information, and payments accurate. This is an in-person opportunity for an enthusiastic, friendly, empathetic, and dependable person who wants to make a long-term contribution to an established pediatric practice.
POSITION AT A GLANCE
Full-time, in-person position in Tampa, Florida. Monday through Saturday operations, including some evenings ending as late as 8:00 p.m. Starting pay of $15.00 per hour, with a higher starting rate based on relevant experience. Professional communication in English and Spanish is required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Answer incoming calls promptly and communicate professionally in English and Spanish. Gather complete information, answer nonclinical questions, document messages accurately, and route clinical questions under practice procedures. Welcome children and parents, support check-in and checkout, explain approved forms and next steps, and help create a positive, respectful experience. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments, including new-patient, same-day, and follow-up visits, according to practice procedures. Verify and update demographics, insurance eligibility, primary care provider assignment, pharmacy information, and other information needed for the visit. Collect copays and other patient-responsibility payments accurately and maintain complete payment records. Help families complete electronic check-in, portal steps, forms, and required documents. Use Office Practicum and related systems to update records, document work accurately, manage assigned tasks, and follow work through completion. Coordinate with front-office, clinical, and billing teammates while protecting patient confidentiality and following HIPAA and practice procedures.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Professional spoken English and Spanish. Bilingual communication is required because this position regularly assists Spanish-speaking patients and families by telephone and in person. Excellent customer service and a warm, enthusiastic, empathetic, and outgoing approach. Strong organization, accuracy, reliability, sound judgment, teamwork, and consistent follow-through. The ability to manage frequent telephone calls and in-person needs while remaining calm and professional. Working knowledge of medical billing, insurance eligibility, patient-responsibility payments, and confidential health information. Comfort using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, electronic medical records, and other office systems. Availability for a full-time, in-person schedule that includes Saturdays and some evenings.
TRAINING AND GROWTH
One year of medical front-desk experience is preferred. A strong, trainable candidate without it may still be considered. The practice provides one month of training in needed skills, including practice procedures, HIPAA, Office Practicum, and insurance eligibility. Prior pediatric or Office Practicum experience is helpful, not required. Ongoing training is provided. After one year, employees may be considered for advancement based on performance, readiness, and practice needs. Advancement is not guaranteed.
SCHEDULE AND WORK SETTING
This is one full-time, in-person position within Monday through Saturday operations, including some evening shifts ending as late as 8:00 p.m. The precise schedule will be discussed during the interview. Julia Barriga
