The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and proficiency with various electronic health record (EHR) systems. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and supporting the overall efficiency of the medical office. Your role is vital in ensuring a smooth patient experience and maintaining accurate medical records. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing exceptional patient service at the front desk. Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic scheduling systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers, ensuring accurate billing information. Collect and process patient payments and medical collections while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as eClinicalWorks, Meditech, or Dentrix to ensure accurate documentation review and data entry. Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with proper phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately. Assist with medical administrative support tasks including filing, data entry, and maintaining organized patient files. Support clinic operations by coordinating care plans, intake procedures, and appointment reminders. Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and medical billing procedures to facilitate accurate documentation and coding. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless communication between front desk operations and healthcare providers. Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is required; dental clinic experience is a plus. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Eaglesoft is essential. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and insurance verification processes. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with health information management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing processes. Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Outstanding customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
