The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations at our medical office, providing exceptional service to patients and visitors. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing a welcoming atmosphere. Manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and handle inquiries regarding services. Perform documentation review to ensure accuracy and completeness of patient records. Utilize medical scheduling software such as Athenahealth or Epic for appointment management. Assist with coding tasks and familiarity with ICD-10 for accurate billing processes. Maintain organized office management practices to support daily operations. Collaborate with medical staff to facilitate effective communication and patient flow. Ensure the front desk area is tidy and well-stocked with necessary supplies. Qualifications Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Proficiency in documentation review and familiarity with medical coding practices. Experience with Athenahealth or Epic software is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Knowledge of hospital protocols and procedures is an asset. High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for greeting and assisting patients including insurance verification with patient benefits, customer service, scheduling patient appointments and data entry in accordance with practice protocol with an emphasis on maximizing patient satisfaction and profitability. Responsible for reviewing the patient demographic information in the practice management system for accuracy and provide feedback to the other front office staff. Responsible for confirming and updating, if needed, patient demographics and insurance information for accuracy. Responsible for providing coverage for the Concierge/Check In Specialist, to ensure efficient and professional practice operations and maximum patient satisfaction. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of office management in a healthcare setting. This position requires strong working knowledge of managed care plans, insurance carriers, referrals and precertification procedures. Also required is a strong working knowledge Medical Records, Insurance Plans, Managed Care and documentation guideline. Strong customer service, organizational and communication skills are essential to this position. This position requires an ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a high pace environment. Also required are general computer skills, typing skills and a working knowledge of Medicare Compliance, OSHA andHIPAA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Checks Out patients and visitors by introducing himself/herself by name. 2. Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone. 3. Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records. 4. Answers phone and takes specific messages as needed 5. Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information. 6. Maintains and coordinates Medical Records requests from any outside agency, law office or insurance company. 7. Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies. 8. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. 9. Schedules follow up office visits, lab tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, as needed. 10. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes. 11. Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient co-pays and co-insurance amounts. 112. Provide coverage for the Concierge/Check In Specialist as required to ensure efficient and professional practice operation. 13. Proficiency with Availity, Trizetto and MicroMD for eligibility verification to maximize revenue. 14. Maintain information regarding patient referrals, insurance carriers, managed care networks and credentialing. 15. Maintain an organized, efficient and professional work environment. 16. Adhere to all practice policies related to OSHA, HIPAA and Medicare Compliance. 17. Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED is required.EXPERIENCE
Requires a minimum of 1 year of Front Office/Check In or Out experience preferably in a gastroenterology setting.SKILLS:
1. The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position. 2. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong customer service skills. 3. Requires strong basic mathematical skills. 4. Requires an extensive working knowledge of managed care networks and insurance carriers. 5. Requires proficiency in general office automation including operation of fax machines, copy machines, adding machines, postage machines, and multi-line phone systems. 6. Requires proficiency in working with a PC, the Internet, and MS Windows. 7. Requires a good understanding of the current Medicare Compliance, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations. 8. Requires a high degree of organization.ABILITIES
