We are seeking a friendly, dependable Medical Receptionist who will serve as the first point of contact for our patients and help create a welcoming, professional experience that reflects our commitment to exceptional patient care. This role is initially part time and temporary (August through September) with the opportunity to extend and expand to full time/permanent with proven contributions. Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact for patients by greeting visitors, answering telephone calls, responding to online communications. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments while maintaining an organized provider schedule. Register new patients and accurately collect, verify, and update demographic, insurance, and medical information. Handle Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA and company privacy policies. Accurately document patient information, communications, and other pertinent information within the electronic medical record (EMR). Verify insurance eligibility and assist patients with insurance, referral, and registration questions. Collect copayments, balances, and other patient payments according to office procedures. Process incoming and outgoing patient forms, referrals, medical records requests, and other administrative documentation. Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, pharmacies, insurance companies, and referring offices. Monitor and respond appropriately to voicemail, patient portal messages, fax communications, and email as assigned. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area. Assist with general office duties including scanning, filing, copying, and other administrative tasks. Support the clinical team and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment. Qualifications Strong English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and colleagues. Polished problem solving and dispute resolution skills. Previous customer service experience desired; medical office experience preferred but not required. Familiarity with basic medical terminology; knowledge of rheumatology terminology is a plus. Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn electronic medical record (EMR) software. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to accurately enter and maintain patient information while protecting confidentiality. Professional appearance and demeanor with a strong commitment to outstanding customer service. Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and remain calm in a complex environment. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small, patient-focused healthcare team. Position Details Flexible/negotiable work days. Monday and Tuesday required. Flexible/negotiable work hours. 24 hours/week promised. Opportunity for more. Initial and immediate need is for August and September.
