This is a part-time position requiring 15 to 20 hours per week .

You MUST have proven, proficient experience in medical billing and coding specifically for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and a Mental Health Therapists. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running; we will not provide training for billing and coding. If you do not have direct experience with mental health insurance billing, claim reconciliation, and patient collections, please do not apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Medical Billing & Revenue Management:
Handle full-cycle mental health billing, submit insurance claims, track down outstanding payments from insurance companies, and aggressively follow up on patient balances.
Insurance Vetting & Patient Onboarding:
Contact insurance companies to verify new patient benefits (deductibles, copays). Send, track, and process digital intake forms and HIPAA consents prior to appointments.
Financial Handling:
Responsibly charge patient credit cards for copays, late cancellations, and outstanding balances using our system. Conduct basic daily payment reconciliation.
Patient Coordination & Triage:
Answer high-volume phone calls, respond promptly to emails, and schedule appointments. Comfortably navigate patient inquiries using established crisis protocols to route urgent issues to the appropriate provider.
Prior Authorizations:
Prepare, submit, and track prior authorization requests for psychiatric medications and therapy frequencies.
Administrative Support & Facilities:
"Multitask like crazy" to keep the office running smoothly. Make copies, scan sensitive documents, process physical mail, and manage office inventory (supplies, tissues, cleaning goods).
Office Maintenance:
Maintain a tidy, organized, and clean environment (including light cleaning, wiping down common areas, and keeping workspaces sanitized).
Software Utilization:
Learn and utilize our specialized electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software efficiently (on-site training will be provided for our specific system).
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum 2+ years of dedicated mental health/psychiatric billing and coding experience (PMHNP/Therapist billing focus is mandatory).
Compliance:
Strict, proven knowledge of HIPAA compliance, medical privacy standards, and patient confidentiality boundaries.
Location:
100% in-office role in Davenport, IA (not remote).
Skills:
Exceptional multitasking abilities, strong phone etiquette, professional email communication, and the emotional intelligence to manage a mental health front desk.
