We are currently considering full-time, part-time, and PRN candidates and have an immediate need for qualified applicants. This position will primarily be based at our West Des Moines clinic, with availability required for shifts at our Johnston and Altoona locations as needed. This position requires availability for a combination of daytime, evening, and rotating weekend shifts. Applicants seeking weekday daytime-only schedules will not be considered for this position. Because of our current staffing needs, this is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have at least two years of recent medical reception, patient access, or medical front-desk experience. The successful candidate should already be comfortable performing the core responsibilities of a medical receptionist independently, with orientation provided for DoctorsNow-specific systems, workflows, and policies. Responsibilities Greet patients professionally and provide a welcoming front-desk experience Check patients in and out accurately and efficiently Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and other registration information Answer incoming telephone calls, assist patients when appropriate, and route messages accurately Schedule appointments and assist patients with scheduling questions Collect copays, outstanding balances, and other patient payments Obtain required forms, signatures, identification, insurance cards, and other documentation Maintain accurate patient information in the electronic health record Assist with urgent care, primary care, occupational health, workers' compensation, and other patient registration workflows Communicate professionally with patients, providers, clinical staff, pharmacies, employers, insurance companies, and outside healthcare organizations Help maintain efficient patient flow by communicating closely with clinical staff Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA and confidentiality requirements Handle difficult or frustrated patients professionally and appropriately escalate concerns when necessary Maintain an organized and professional front-desk environment Support reception needs at other DoctorsNow clinic locations as needed Assist other members of the DoctorsNow team with administrative and operational tasks as appropriate Required Qualifications At least two years of recent medical reception, patient access, or medical front-desk experience Experience with patient registration, check-in, and check-out Experience answering and managing patient phone calls in a medical setting Experience scheduling appointments Familiarity with health insurance information and patient payment collection Experience using an electronic health record or medical practice-management system Strong patient-service and communication skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced outpatient environment Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy Reliable attendance and dependable transportation Ability to work collaboratively with providers, Clinicals, and other reception staff Availability to work a combination of daytime, evening, and rotating weekend shifts Ability to work primarily at the West Des Moines clinic, with shifts at the Johnston and Altoona clinics as needed Preferred Qualifications Previous urgent care or primary care reception experience Experience with Athenahealth or a similar electronic health record Experience with insurance verification and eligibility Experience collecting copays and patient balances Experience with occupational health or workers' compensation registration Experience working in a high-volume medical practice Bilingual skills Schedule DoctorsNow clinics are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. We are currently considering full-time, part-time, and PRN candidates.
