Learn more at focalpointchicago.org. Position Summary The Unit Secretary performs clerical and computer tasks to assist the nursing and medical staff in their provision of patient care. Essential Functions Accurately transcribes physician orders. Performs computer order entry duties. Performs clerical duties related to the maintenance of patient records, unit data, admission, discharge and transfers. Photocopies as directed. Answers the telephone, takes/relays messages and directs calls. Requisitions and orders supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair service and prepares related forms. Keeps stock and equipment inventories. Maintains departmental records and collects data for administrative and regulatory purposes. Prioritizes work and provides prompt, courteous and efficient service. Observes a patient requiring 1:1 direct supervision for safety.
