Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our orthodontic dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, manage appointment scheduling, handle medical billing and insurance verification, and ensure smooth office operations. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical EMR systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare administrative procedures. Prior dental office experience are highly valued to provide exceptional patient service and support clinic efficiency. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and provide outstanding front desk customer service Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using systems such as OpenDental and OrthoEdge Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently Collect payments, process medical billing, and handle collections. Review and update patient records ensuring accuracy in documentation review and health information management Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations Assist with insurance claim submissions, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and documentation review Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and manage inquiries promptly Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and managing medical records Support clinic operations by coordinating care plans and assisting with medical administrative support tasks Qualifications Prior experience in dental office or clinic environment preferred; dental clinic experience highly desirable Knowledge of medical billing, coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, insurance verification, and health information management Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare settings Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities preferred Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or training in medical administration is a plus
