The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a medical office, strong knowledge of health insurance verification and benefits, excellent attention to detail, and a professional, friendly approach when interacting with patients. This position is ideal for someone who can confidently manage insurance verification and authorization responsibilities while also providing excellent front-desk support in a fast-paced medical office environment. Position ResponsibilitiesInsurance Verification & Benefits Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to scheduled appointments. Confirm coverage for office visits, preventive care, specialty services, procedures, and other services as applicable. Review insurance plans for deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket requirements, and coverage limitations. Document insurance verification information accurately in the Veradigm Practice Manager software. Identify inactive, terminated, or incorrect insurance coverage and obtain updated insurance information from patients. Communicate with insurance companies and payer representatives regarding eligibility, benefits, and coverage questions. Follow up on insurance issues before the patient's appointment whenever possible. Maintain accurate and current insurance information in the patient's chart. Assist with resolving insurance-related issues that may affect patient appointments or billing. Understand the importance of obtaining accurate insurance information to prevent claim denials and billing problems. Medical Front Desk / Reception Responsibilities Greet patients in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner. Check patients in and out for appointments efficiently and accurately. Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls appropriately. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments. Collect copays, deductibles, and other patient balances according to office policy. Update patient demographic, contact, and insurance information. Scan and upload insurance cards, identification, referrals, and other necessary documentation. Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, paperwork, and general office procedures. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Communicate effectively with physicians, medical assistants, nurses, billing staff, and office management. Assist with maintaining an organized, professional, and welcoming front-desk environment. Perform other administrative duties as assigned. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families. Treat all patients with courtesy, compassion, and respect. Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Take initiative and be proactive in identifying and resolving problems. Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, insurance companies, and coworkers. Be comfortable working with computers, electronic medical records, insurance websites, and multiple software systems. Maintain productivity and accuracy without sacrificing quality of patient service. Be willing to assist other members of the front-office team when needed. Required Qualifications Previous medical office experience required. Previous insurance verification/eligibility experience strongly preferred. Experience working at a medical front desk or physician practice. Knowledge of health insurance terminology, benefits, copays, deductibles, and coinsurance. Experience verifying insurance through payer websites and/or by telephone. Experience with an EMR/EHR system. Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential patient information appropriately. Ability to work independently while also functioning well as part of a team. Professional, dependable, and reliable work ethic. Preferred Qualifications Experience in an Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Primary Care practice. Experience verifying both commercial insurance and government-sponsored insurance plans. Familiarity with referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance requirements. Experience with medical scheduling and patient check-in/check-out. Familiarity with electronic medical records and practice management systems. Previous experience working in a high-volume physician office. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is experienced, dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and patient-focused . The right candidate will understand that accurate insurance verification is an important part of preventing billing issues while also recognizing that the front desk is often the patient's first and last interaction with our office. You should be comfortable taking ownership of your responsibilities, communicating professionally with patients and insurance companies, and working cooperatively with the entire office team. Pay:
$18.00 - $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 - 40.0 per week
