About us We are an ophthalmology practice that provides clinical and surgical eye care to our local community and the surrounding area. We treat a variety of eye conditions ranging from cataracts to sight threatening diseases including glaucoma and macular degeneration, working to save vision and improve the lives of our patients. We believe in making a difference, and are proud of the work we do. Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented medical biller to join our team, who will also have some front desk/reception duties. Our office provides clinical and surgical eye care for patients with a range of vision issues, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and many others, and we care about making a difference in our community. As a medical biller you will assist with both clinical and business tasks. You will verify patient insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, collect patient payments, submit insurance claims and follow-up on claim rejections, manage patient statements, greet patients, schedule appointments and surgeries, and assist with clerical support. You will be a key point of contact for patients and providers, managing accurate medical billing processes, and assisting with front-desk operations . Your expertise will help facilitate efficient revenue cycle management, and communication with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers. This position offers an opportunity to combine exceptional customer service with comprehensive medical billing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills Collect patient information, verify insurance details, and update medical records accurately using Electronic Medical Record system Determination of co-pays, coinsurance and deductibles to accurately collect patient responsibility at the time-of-service Prepare and submit healthcare claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with healthcare claims management standards Code medical procedures and diagnoses accurately utilizing CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications Follow up on insurance rejections, claim denials, and unpaid claims Management of patient statements and collection of outstanding balances Receive cash, check, and charge payments, and balance daily batches Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, patient interactions, and insurance correspondence Stay updated on health insurance policies, medical terminology, and coding regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy Proficiency with Microsoft Office Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively This position requires strong organizational skills, and working in a team environment to provide exceptional and compassionate care. Experience Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel is essential Hands-on experience with billing software and EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable Strong knowledge of healthcare claims management processes and medical coding standards (CPT coding, ICD-9/10) Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers Familiarity with health insurance policies, medical records management, and medical terminology is a plus Join us in delivering exceptional care!

$16.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
