Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Responsible for greeting customers, answering telephones taking telephone messages, making appointments and registrations, calling patients to remind of appointments, verifying insurance coverage, collecting payment from patients, filing patient notes in charts, scanning insurance cards, etc., making copies of patient's insurance cards and patient notes, making appropriate copies of medical records to send to other physicians, providing information, communicating with departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Greet customers in polite, prompt, helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions/directions. Informs appropriate department/person of person's arrival. Completes necessary paperwork, for all imaging modalities. Uses computer system, including EHR to generate information necessary for billing. Updates patient information, collects co-pays, provides necessary forms needing completion, and obtains signatures as necessary. Maintains clean, orderly waiting room and reading materials. Answers phone according to script in a pleasant manner and deals with customer needs expeditiously. Supplements offices staff as reception tasks permit by assisting with photocopying, computer input/typing, scheduling laboratory or radiology work as directed. Counts cash drawer daily accompanied by a witness. Opens and closes office at appointed time. Checks and maintains office supply inventory as assigned by office manager. Maintains HIPAA compliance at all times. Attends office staff meetings, and assists if requested by office manager. Such other and further responsibilities as may be deemed necessary.
Requirements:
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED. Preferably some training in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
EXPERIENCE
: Minimum of one-year experience in customer service setting, preferably six months receptionist experience in health care setting and experience with office equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Completion of Clinical Receptionist assessment for imaging services.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of reception tasks, clinic policies/procedures, paperwork. Knowledge of how to use office equipment including phone, computer. Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques. Skill in using office equipment satisfactorily and handling paperwork/filing adequately. Skill in customer service principles by creating a pleasant waiting room atmosphere. Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff and other customers Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Phreesia update co-pays, print off intake for patients. Ensure all information is included in Phressia
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS
Office setting, well ventilated and well lighted.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
: Variety of activities including sitting, walking, bending, reaching. Occasionally must push/lift/carry equipment and materials. Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
