Job Description

This position is available immediately and includes paid training with our current receptionist before her departure in August. SUMMARY Busy orthopedic hand and wrist surgery practice in Maywood, NJ is seeking a friendly, professional, and dependable Part-Time Medical Receptionist to join our team. We are looking for an experienced candidate who enjoys working with patients, has excellent communication skills, and can thrive in a fast-paced medical office environment. This position is ideal for an experienced medical receptionist seeking a long-term part-time role in a friendly private practice environment. This position requires someone who is organized, detail-oriented, learns quickly, and is comfortable handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate professionally with patients, physicians, surgery centers, and insurance companies while helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of our practice. Our office operates entirely on Apple computers using MacPractice electronic medical records. Candidates should be comfortable working in a Mac-based environment or be willing to learn quickly. Paid training will be provided.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 1 year of medical office front desk experience required Strong telephone communication and customer service skills Experience answering multi-line phone systems Experience scheduling patient appointments in a medical office setting Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems) Comfortable using Apple computers (Mac OS) Ability to learn new software and office procedures quickly Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Professional appearance and demeanor Ability to work independently after training Experience with insurance verification, authorizations, or surgical scheduling preferred Orthopedic, surgical, neurology, pain management, or specialty practice experience preferred
REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Must be available to provide occasional coverage on additional days when needed Answer incoming phone calls and obtain complete patient information Schedule office visits, follow-up appointments, imaging studies, and surgical procedures Check patients in and out of appointments Verify insurance information and collect patient payments Obtain insurance authorizations for imaging studies and surgical procedures Maintain accurate patient records within the practice EHR system (MacPractice) Scan, upload, and organize medical records and patient documentation Communicate professionally with patients, physicians, surgery centers, hospitals, and insurance companies Manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Work independently and responsibly after completion of training The successful candidate will be reliable, professional, patient-focused, and committed to providing excellent customer service in a busy surgical practice.
