Overview Join our dynamic ophthalmology practice as a Medical Receptionist and become the welcoming face of our clinic! This vital role combines exceptional patient service with efficient administrative support, ensuring smooth daily operations. You will be the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, verifying insurance, and maintaining accurate medical records. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service at the front desk Schedule patient appointments using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and health insurance plans Collect payments Manage patient intake processes, including documentation review and data entry with high attention to detail Maintain and update patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism, utilizing proper phone etiquette and clear communication Assist with medical office management tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing electronic health records (EHR) Support clinical staff by preparing documentation for care plans. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies at all times Qualifications Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare administrative role within an ophthalmology clinic preferred, but not required Familiarity with medical billing, insurance verification, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), Medicare processes and health insurance policies Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and office management software Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle multiple phone lines and manage patient interactions professionally Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively Knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology is a plus Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping Ability to maintain clinical confidentiality while adhering to HIPAA standards Prior clinic or hospital experience is preferred; office experience in a fast-paced environment is advantageous Embark on a meaningful career where your administrative expertise directly contributes to patient well-being!
