GED Typing Full Job Description Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Front Desk Manager, to ensure and assist with efficient operations of the Front Desk Department including but not limited to: Greeting patients, Patient Check-In/Out, Updating demographics, Scheduling, Insurance Coverage, Outgoing Referrals, Voicemails and Interoffice Communications.
Primary Duties:

  • = essential functions) To cheerfully and professionally greet and assist all patients within the practice
  • To obtain patient demographic information and accurately input into the EMR
  • To verify patient insurance information at each visit
  • To scan pertinent patient information into EMR including authorizations, recent lab reports provided by patient, etc.
  • To obtain patient authorization for medical records release (HIPAA compliance)
  • To schedule necessary appointments after completion of patient visit
  • To monitor and review patient schedules for next day office appointments in order to pull or put charts together if needed
  • To collect co-pays and patient balances
  • To identify and accurately resolve minor patient billing complaints
  • To assist with ordering, receiving and stocking of office supplies
  • To maintain the cleanliness of our patient lobby
  • To assist other Medical Receptionists and clinic colleagues
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent Requires a minimum of 2 years customer service or medical office experience Requires intermediate computer competency including the ability to learn new programs quickly Requires demonstrated ability to type at a rate of 45 wpm with minimal errors Requires strong written and oral communication skills Requires the use of sound judgement when making decisions concerning patients and staff. Requires ability to manage multiple assignments under varying degrees of pressure (usually from deadlines). Requires proven ability to work well in a team situation or any other role assigned Requires complete professional and compassionate focus on patient care and customer service Requires exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to exhibit workplace civility and promote a positive work environment
