Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Receptionist, where your energetic and welcoming demeanor will set the tone for a positive patient experience! In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring smooth clinic operations through excellent administrative support. Your expertise in medical and dental office procedures, combined with strong computer skills and a passion for customer service, will help us deliver exceptional care and streamline our daily workflows. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to grow within a fast-paced healthcare environment dedicated to improving patient outcomes. Duties Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify appointment details, and manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently. Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily patient flow. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verifications accurately using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Collect payments, process medical billing and coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 codes, and Meditech documentation review to ensure accurate financial transactions. Maintain and update patient records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent patient service by addressing inquiries promptly and scheduling appointments with care plans in mind. Manage administrative tasks such as filing medical records, handling correspondence, managing clinic supplies, and supporting overall office management activities. Experience Prior experience working in a dental or medical office environment is highly preferred, with familiarity using practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, dental terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and health information management practices. Demonstrated ability to perform medical billing, insurance verification, and documentation review with accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), EMR systems like Epic or Meditech, and other electronic health record platforms such as eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings is a plus. Experience handling multi-line phone systems, front desk operations, medical scheduling, filing systems, and maintaining medical records efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and hospital or clinic experience that emphasizes confidentiality and professionalism is highly valued.
