Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Receptionist, where your energetic and welcoming demeanor will set the tone for an exceptional patient experience. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, verifying insurance, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service at the front desk. Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth. Manage patient intake, including collecting medical history and updating electronic health records (EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Meditech). Answer multi-line phone systems with proper phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and managing appointment reminders. Maintain accurate dental records, medical documentation review, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Assist with insurance verification, coding procedures with CPT and ICD codes, and processing payments accurately. Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing medical records to ensure seamless clinic operations. Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans and facilitate efficient patient flow within the office. Experience Prior experience working in a dental or medical office environment is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical billing, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and CPT coding standards. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms like Meditech or Epic. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with practice management software. Demonstrated ability to handle medical administrative support tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Experience with insurance verification processes and medical billing procedures is highly valued. Strong organizational skills combined with exceptional phone etiquette and typing speed (10-key typing). Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and medical documentation review practices is essential for success in this role.
