Medical Receptionist
DEPARTMENT
Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
STATUS:
Full-time, Part-time, Per diem, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO
Administrative Coordinator DATE:
July 2026
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for checking patients in and out of the ASC for office procedures, making sure patients fill out the appropriate paperwork, assisting with insurance eligibility, and communicating out of pocket costs to patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greets and directs all patients at the ASC
  • Assists with checking insurance eligibility for procedures
  • Communicates out of pocket costs to patients
  • Prepares charts for procedures including obtaining medical records from various offices, hospitals, etc.
  • Answers patient calls for the physician. This includes trouble shooting triage calls for the nurse and physician.
  • Distributes and follows up on incoming faxes.
  • Scans 30-40 charts per day into Apex ProVation
  • Collects copays from patients and posts payments
  • Tallies up copays for the day, prints out the days sheet and matches up copays with patient information.
  • Enters all internal and external documents into the EMR system.
  • Maintains confidentiality of provider information
  • Maintains cleanliness of the kitchen on a rotating basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of a High School diploma; Associates Degree preferred.
  • At least one-year relevant experience and/or training.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong customer service and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software, such as word and excel. Familiarity with EMR strongly desired.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments.
  • Able to work collectively with administration and staff

From $18.00 per hour
