We are a Retina sub-specialty ophthalmology practice seeking an experienced person to join our team as a full-time receptionist. The right candidate will have proficient phone and computer skills to use our practice management, drug inventory, and electronic medical record software programs, and will thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Insurance knowledge helpful. Camp Hill will be the home office for this position, with frequent rotation to the York office. Some travel is required to satellite offices in Hershey and State College. Mileage Reimbursement is provided for anything beyond your normal commute to the Camp Hill office. Shifts rotate, most frequently between 7:30 am
  • 4:00 pm, 8:00 am
  • 4:30 pm, and 8:30 am
  • 5 pm.
Some shifts will be in the phone room, so proficiency and enjoyment of working with patients over the phone are a must. Training will occur in the Camp Hill office.
Job Summary:
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for interacting with patients and managing the administrative tasks required to facilitate successful patient visits. Their duties include scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out for their visits, and processing payments for patient treatment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Completion of opening duties when scheduled as the opening receptionist. Checking patients in and out, which includes verifying and updating the patient's demographics and insurance. Scheduling new and return patient appointments Collecting patient payments via cash, check, or credit card. Answering patient incoming calls and completing triage on those phone calls as needed. Coordination with the Insurance Verification, Procedural Coordinators, Surgery Schedulers, and the Billing department to ensure patients have proper insurance clearances prior to being seen. Preparation of Patient Encounter Forms for the next day, including verifying that the patient's appointment information and patient co-pays are accurate. Completion of rescheduling work as needed. Completion of patient letters as needed, including no-show letters, paperwork update letters, appointment change letters, reminder letters, and work/school excuses. Processing of requests to release records, in conjunction with the Medical Records Specialists. Upload calls for appointment reminders; follow-up with patients whose phone call was unsuccessful. Processing of incoming and outgoing referrals. Completion of closing duties when scheduled as the closing receptionists. Completion of daily cash out reports and deposit slips. Rotation through our satellite offices for front desk coverage as scheduled.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. At least two years of related experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
