Job Description
Overview We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, patient records, and insurance verifications with efficiency and compassion. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare administrative procedures. The Dental Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient service. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and provide outstanding front desk customer service Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid processing Perform insurance verification and authorization procedures accurately Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently Collect payments and handle medical billing, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and documentation review Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette Assist with clerical duties such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and document management Support medical administrative tasks including intake procedures, care plan documentation, and office management activities Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations Experience Prior experience in a dental or medical office setting is highly preferred, especially in front desk or administrative support roles Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is advantageous Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing practices Familiarity with insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry accuracy (10 key typing) Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Demonstrated ability to handle multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail This position offers an opportunity to be an integral part of a dedicated healthcare team committed to providing exceptional patient care through efficient administrative support.
