Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative and clinical support tasks. Your energetic approach and exceptional organizational skills will help streamline daily operations, facilitate accurate documentation, and uphold the highest standards of patient service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality healthcare delivery through effective communication, precise record management, and adherence to confidentiality policies. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures. Schedule appointments using medical scheduing software (Medisoft) according to types of appointments needed (i.e. surgery/follow-up/suture removal/consult). Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy and professionalism. Manage health records and charts, ensuring proper documentation review, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Answer multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, triaging calls and directing inquiries appropriately. Coordinate referrals with physician offfices and maintain communication through sharing records with PCP's and referring doctors. Prepare and maintain medical records, files, and documentation in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies. Assist clinicians with care plans, documentation review, and administrative support to facilitate smooth clinic operations. Utilize computer skills to update patient information, manage appointment schedules, and perform data entry tasks efficiently. Support medical office management by handling filing, typing, and maintaining accurate medical billing records. Collaborate effectively within a team environment to ensure seamless front desk operations in a busy clinic setting. Experience Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly via phone and in person. Demonstrated clerical experience involving filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and office management tasks. Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, but candidates with non-medical reception may be considered. Proven proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing processes preferred. Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare and other insurance providers. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA is essential. Experience working in dental clinics or similar healthcare environments is advantageous but not required.
