Job Description Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Emergency Room Manager, employee is required to work assigned shift and is subject to overtime and call back and holiday hours as circumstances dictate. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Communicate with patients and their families when they present for Emergency services in a pleasant manner. Route telephone calls throughout the Emergency Department and the entire organization. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and how to use it as it pertains to their area. Prepares required transfer documentation as requested. Adheres to "Quality Plus" and departmental policies and procedures. Participate with problem solving activities. Adapt and practice "Quality Plus" culture. Contribute to a positive work environment and overall team effort of the department. Able to prepare documents and related items for medical documents. Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department with no demonstrated hostility.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High school diploma with reading, writing and mathematical skills or GED. Knowledge of medical terminology desired.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION
CPR certificated within 90 days
EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures as normally acquired through 3 months of on-the-job training and employee orientation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Operate telephones and work in a fast-paced environment. Must demonstrate computer skills necessary to operate a Electronic Health Records System. Consistently smiles and is pleasant to patients, visitors and co-workers. Cheerfully adheres to and promotes the "Quality Plus" and departmental "Service Excellence" expectation standards.
