Full Job Description Position Title:
Medical Receptionist Reports to: Executive Director Unit Team(s):
Clinic Mission:
To provide free quality medical care and referral services with dignity and compassion to the uninsured of our community.
Vision:
To provide for the medical needs of the uninsured while connecting them to existing community resources. To share Christ's love and hope with patients and volunteers alike.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting individuals, in person or on the telephone; answers questions, refers inquiries, and takes messages. Attend huddles lead by clinic champion, stays up to date on changes from PCMH, and ensures those policies/procedures are being met. Coordinates information between staff members, and ensures all information is up to date and correct. Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answers patients' questions; maintains the reception area. Maintains patient records by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information. Ensures all medical records received are entered into EMR in a prompt manner Ensures medical records requested are responded to in a prompt manner. Checks office supplies in the front reception and notifies appropriate staff member of needed orders in a timely manner. Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies. Follows HIPAA by protecting patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Schedules and assists in preparation for meetings, clinic, and special events. Prepares general clinic correspondence. Answers telephone calls in a timely manner. Charts accurate telephone encounters. Responsible for checking patients in for their appointment for pharmacy. Communicates wait times for the patient. Translates in the clinic on an as needed basis. Works in the Pharmacy as needed Works in clinic with Providers as needed Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to communicate well and in a caring and supportive manner with individuals of all backgrounds. Excellent telephone etiquette and keyboard skills. Ability to work efficiently and accurately. Should have computer knowledge. Must be able to effectively us Microsoft Suite Knowledge of medical terminology. Bilingual in Spanish and English High school diploma or GED. Experience preferred.
Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of the job, this role is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and can read a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Environment:
The work environment is a small, busy office located in Amarillo, Texas. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
